Raw Days 2 & 3

So, i'm still very interested in reading about Raw foods and making this transition.

I've made some really amazing things to eat, and i'm finding a nice balance between raw foods and cooked foods and even combining the 2!

I've made raw Mashed Potatoes - which are cauliflower and sunflower seed based, and i've been consuming a TON of fresh whole fruits and vegetables. I do have a lot of energy and i'm looking forward to learning more about it and trying new things.

Today i had a case of the Fridays, and i didn't try to concoct anything this morning. The only thing i prepared was raw apple sauce (which is my favorite new thing). So in addition to the apple sauce, packed a banana, carrots, cucumbers, a TON of cantaloupe, and green and red grapes.

I had lemon water this morning, but i was feeling a little creative! I boiled water, and poured it into my tea tumbler I squeezed 1/2 of a lemon's juice into my cup and i put about 1/4 of what was left of the lemon into my tea ball with 5 or 6 mint leaves. I let it brew and it was delightful! It definitely speeds up mt metabolism!

If i make a created dessert tonight, I'll be sure to post an update.

Raw Food Day 1

So,

I haven't had much to say that has been note worthy, but here i am. I'm revisiting this medium of thought documentation for a very good reason.

This is my second attempt at becoming a raw foodist. It just seems to be the smartest and healthiest was to eat. I'm already extremely healthy, but i know i can feel even BETTER.

Last night i went to the grocery store and stocked up on my favorite produce for a few recipes. as well as fruits and vegetables that i love to snack on.

Today's Menu:

  • Wake up Drink -Lemon Water: Juice one 1/2 Lemon, 1 Cup of Water & A few mint Leaves.
This is supposed to be good for digestion and elimination. I'm extremely regular, so i don't know if it worked or if it was just the natural flow of my system??? But...something worked.

  • Breakfast - 1 Ripe Banana & 32 oz of Spring Water
  • Mid Morning - Raw Apple Sauce - 1 Gala, Apple 3 oz of Water, Cinnamon & Nutmeg to taste - Blended
The apple sauce was amazing! It tasted better than any apple sauce i've ever had in my whole life!! I'm pretty sure I'll be making this everyday!!

  • Mid Afternoon - Celery Sticks & Veggie Dressing - 1 Plum Tomato, 1/2 Cucumber, 1/3 Red Bell Pepper 1 Small Onion - Blended.
This dressing could use a little dressing up, but it did yield a very large amount. I have a lot of it left, I think i'll Dress it up for Dinner tonight.
  • Lunch - Raw Indian Carrot Soup - 1 cup chopped carrots (the recipe actually calls for 2 cups of carrot juice, but i think the texture would not be as good) 1 ripe avocado , 1 tbsp Curry Powder, 1 clove of Garlic, cilantro garnish - I omitted the Garnish. Blended.
This was fantastic, i think i need to post pictures of all of these things when i get home. The soup was delightful and refreshing!!

Don't sleep on...

ALF!
http://www.hulu.com/search/alf/4?sort_by=relevance&type=episode

I attached the full body Alf picture because it's so rare and special to see him from head to toe! When I was a kid, i waited INTENTLY during each episode to see Alf's full body zip across the screen to chase the cat into the kitchen. He loved cats!

I was so intrigued by the fact that they sincerely tried to pass off the little man or woman in a costume Alf as the same Melmacian cuddly puppet Alf. --And you KNEW the person in the costume wasn't a child because of the gait; a stride that had seen hard times, a few aches and pains. Ok, so I'm going to stop this stream of consciousness because I had no idea that i paid attention so closely to the intricies of alf!

Cute but not too cute...

A lot of the face shapes are stock but i'm pretty sure this is at least semi-accurate.

Common Place

1. Pencil Neck
2. Rabbit Teeth
3. Chubbykins
4. Short Stuff
5. Jynjiggie (phonetic spelling of an Igbo [Nigerian] term for a short stocky person.
6. Big and Bad
7. Junior

The above are all nicknames my father had for me when i was growing up. Pencil Neck was used in passing. It was usually used when my mom bought us new clothes and we were doing the at home fashion show. Ex. "Nice shirt Pencil Neck." -or- "Oh honey, she looks so cute with that Pencil Neck!!"

When i was in the 8-10 year old phase where my teeth were fully grown and too big for my face, my father FLAGRANTLY referred to me as Rabbit Teeth. "Ok, i love you, goodnight, Rabbit Teeth."

I had a doll named Chubbykins. She was my first doll. Her chocolate brown skin identical to mine; her soft pillow body confused me. I took her everywhere. Chubbykins was what dad called me for a whiiiiiiiiile!

He still calls me short stuff today. He's maybe 2 inches taller than me. I think it makes him feel tall. I like that nickname. My dear fiancé actually called me short stuff randomly once. It was so endearing.

Almost every Nigerian adult that i've known since childhood calls me Jynjiggie. My dad said it so often it might as well have been my name.

Big and Bad came along during my pre-teen to mid teen fat phase. I thought i knew everything and i was big. I guess my dad only knew how to react with a nickname that was trivial to me, but would have given many teen girls a complex! My dad had lovingly been making fun of my sister and i since we were wee little lasses. Nothing was off limits!!

I'm pretty handy. I helped my dad build anything that was ever built in our house growing up. He's said, "C'mon Junior, let's put together this table". We were best buds -- two peas in pod.

He's still one of my best friends on Earth, insulting nicknames and all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christian Chicken

A few of my friends brought it to my attention that Chik-Fil-A is a "Christian" company. Here's their mission statement:

"to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A."

I'm not religious, but i'm pretty sure God's plan has something to do with love, life and kindness, not Chicken.

Does this strike anyone else as extremely odd?

Chik-fil-A makes McDonald's seem COMPLETELY normal:

"McDonald's vision is to be the world's best quick service restaurant experience. Being the best means providing outstanding quality, service, cleanliness, and value, so that we make every customer in every restaurant smile."
